Leadership Program for youth ages 12-19
The Be About Change leadership comprehensive program combines physical training with classroom instruction/discussion that empowers participants to build and sustain a better life. Physical training will consist of bodyweight training. Classroom instruction/discussion will include the topics below. Please carefully review and complete everything in this application.

Resume / Interviewing
Dates offered: March 13
Recruiter, Scott Fernandez, has spent over 20 years assisting clients secure employees and professional positions. Learn about strategies to implement for interviewing, resume-writing, social media, and personal follow-up to showcase your talents. In this course, you will gain perspectives on how to position yourself for professional opportunities.
College / Scholarship
Dates offered: March 27; April 17
High School Initiatives Specialist (Admissions), Michael Sztapka, of Nashville State Community College, discusses the college admissions process, both from the perspective of college admissions, as well as from the perspective of a college graduate and student. Mr. Sztapka facilitated the awarding of our first Project L.E.A.D. scholarship to program graduate, Tremaine James. In this course, you will learn strategies to position yourself for dual-enrollment opportunities (while in high school) as well as post-secondary opportunities.
Self-Awareness / Anger Management
Dates offered: March 20; April 3
In partnership with The F.I.N.D. Design, and O.L.L.I.E., instructors offer unique perspectives and strategies for becoming more self-aware. Increased self-awareness directly correlates with more informed decision-making, which prepares individuals for responding positively to life’s challenges. In this course, you will gain a better understanding of how you respond to conflict with a deeper insight into personal responsibility and your role in life events.
Life Impact / Guest Speaker
Dates offered: April 10; April 24
Presenters discuss life experiences with an emphasis on experience, strength, and hope. In this course, you will gain an understanding – from personal perspectives – on the complexities in life, overcoming hardship and adversity, and forging a path forward during challenging times.
Single class
You will be assigned to one course, based upon your referring agency and/or your family’s consultation with Be About Change.
